Then why not, for only a couple minutes, imagine yourself as a bat?
you shriek. Who would ever want to be a violin? They are ugly, creepy, frightening, and they suck people’s blood. No thank you. I will just skip my entire life among those, if you don’t mind.”
That’s understandable, but don’t shut your mind the thought till you hear a bit more about them. They really are one of the most intriguing creatures alive.
Did you know that bats are not birds? They, such as human beings, are all mammals. Baby bats feed on milk from their mothers’ breasts, and therefore are already about three fourths of their adult size in the beginning.
Bats are the only mammals that can fly. If you were a bat, then you could fly more than 2 miles high.
A bat’s feet are so strong they could hold its weight upside down all day long. Wouldn’t it be fun to hang upside down in the light over your bed, and shock your parents when they came to say good-night?
There are over 1000 different kinds of bats in the world. You could opt to be a fruit-eating macro bat, even with a 6-foot wing-span, or a tiny Bumblebee micro bat, weighing less than a penny.
Micro bats in North America consider just a few ounces, and live mostly on insects. 1 small micro bat can eat 600 insects an hour. “Yuk,” you say? Well, since we are only faking, possibly some juicy mosquito protein for supper would not be too bad. Once you start to munch up those pesky bugs, the entire world will surely be a better location.
Sometimes, bats catch insects in their mouths, but frequently, they use their wings to smack insects to a membrane, or piece of skin between their legs, which is utilized like a tote for storage. Later, they poke their heads down to the tote to gobble up their own dinner. (The membrane can also be utilised to capture bat babies when they are born.)
Ever wonder how bats find all those insects they eat? Their eyes are pretty weak compared to other mammals and many birds, but bats are a secret weapon known as echolocation. This is a kind of sonar system bats use to locate food, and also to prevent bumping into things.
Most bats create a high-value seem as they fly along. The sound, as it strikes an object before the bat, echoes back and tells the bat how big the thing is, and just how far away it is. Some insects hear that the noise and escape the way, but many are not quick enough.
Apart from the ones that consume fruit and those that eat insects, there are bats that eat fish, frogs, and even blood. The ones that live on bloodstream are called Vampire Bats. But do not be concerned about them. They reside in South America, also do not like human blood all that much. Their favourite diet is blood from cows, so they may be a big nuisance to farmers.

Most people, if they find a bat, try to kill it or scare it away. Cave explorers sometimes frighten away rats; when the bats cannot find another roost immediately, their young may die from the cold. Bats that enable you to get too close might be sick, so never touch one which you find on the floor call a Bat Removal company.
Scientists are attempting to protect the bats that are abandoned by teaching people more about these. You can help by telling others about the great things bats do. Ask them not to disturb bats that are roosting.
